Just a few weeks back Spice had announced the launch of its 3 smartphones running Android - Spice Stellar (Mi-425), Spice Stellar Horizon (Mi-500) and the Spice Stellar Craze (Mi-355). Spice Steller has already been launched and is available in the market but the launch of the other two handsets – Spice Stellar Horizon (Mi-500) and the Spice Stellar Craze (Mi-355), has been delayed. These two were expected to be launched by June end, but now they should be arriving by the end of July. This rason given by Spice is the delays in shipment.
Out of the two Spice Stellar Horizon has interesting specs. It has a 5-inch touchscreen bundled with Android 4.0 ICS. It packs in a 1 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and a dedicated a 300 MHz GPU for the game heads. It possesses a 5MP auto focus camera with a 0.3MP front camera supporting video calling. Other key features, include Dual-Sim capability, GPS/ AGPS, Wi- Fi Tethering and a big battery life amongst others. The Spice Stellar Horizon will be available at a price of Rs. 11,999.
The Stellar Craze on the hand is the low end model which features a 3.5-inch display, a 800MHz processor, a 1420 mAh battery, HSDPA support, Wi-Fi tethering and Dual Sim capability. This device will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, but again Spice says that it will receive an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Stellar Craze will cost Rs 6,499 and will hit the retail market by the end of this month.
The company is calling these handsets “secure Android” phones, thats because these phones have been preloaded with NetQin mobile antivirus. Both the smartphones will be protected against viruses, data loss, theft and financial security. Additionally, will also get 100 MB of free data every month for the first year via Aircel.
